Basics of First Aid Course for Grades 5-9

We are thrilled to share that Nebula Academy hosted Western Canada Fire & First Aid today to offer our students from grades 5 to 9 a comprehensive “Basics of First Aid” course. The course aimed to equip our students with essential skills to handle emergencies that may arise at home or in their communities.

Course Overview:

During this course, students learned about:

  • First Aider Safety and Personal Protection: Understanding the importance of safety measures and personal protection equipment.
  • Calling 911: Knowing when and how to call emergency services effectively.
  • Emergency Scene Management: Learning the steps to manage an emergency scene safely and efficiently.
  • Patient Assessment: Understanding how to assess an injured or ill person’s condition.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Acquiring the skills to perform CPR in critical situations.
  • Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED): Learning how to use an AED to potentially save lives in cardiac emergencies.
  • Injury Assessment and Wound Care: Gaining knowledge on assessing various injuries and providing appropriate first aid care.

We believe that these skills are invaluable and have empowered our students to act confidently and responsibly during emergencies. A big thank you to Western Canada Fire & First Aid for providing this invaluable training!
