Remembrance Day

This year, on Tuesday, November 14th, Nebula Academy held their annual school Remembrance Day ceremony.

This special ceremony of Remembrance is held so that all students and staff have the opportunity to attend a service dedicated to the memory of those who sacrificed their lives fighting for freedom and to honour, not only the fallen, but those who continue to serve our country.

The ceremony started with the national anthem “O Canada”. The staff, parents and students participate in the one minute of silence. The School Choir performed a special song composed by our Executive Assistant Director Mr. Sahin for Remembrance Day inspired by the most famous war memorial poem “In Flanders Fields”. The students Hakan and Elif Naz from Grade 6 presented their own poems inspired by John McRae’s In Flanders Fields.

We were honored to have Mr. Kerry Diotte, Member of Parliament Edmonton Griesbach and Mr. Asifur Khan, from 3Rd Canadian Division Support Base Edmonton, BTL Canadian Armed Forces join us to speak to the kids about both Canada’s Military history and Canada’s peacekeeping legacy.

Mr. Kerry Diotte and Mr. Asifur Khan visited each class after the ceremony.
